Dear Someone,
I'm sorry to call you someone, but it's the only thing I can call you. I don't know your name, and I don't even know if you are reading, so sorry. But, I really hope you are reading. My name is Janelle, number 9968 at the Henderson Facility. I'm guessing you've heard about us.
We're called freaks of nature. We're called abominations. We're called mentally unstable. But, we're just different. Gifted. We can read minds, move things without touching them, channel Spirit. Sure, some our gifts can be extremely dangerous, like Pyrokenesis. But, only if used for the wrong reasons.
We all get the same spiel. “You’re different. The world has no place for you. They don’t want you around them. The Henderson Facility is the safe haven for you and your kind.” Spoken to like we’re a completely different species. But, we’re human. Just like you.
We're called Subjects, given numbers, treated like animals, sleeping in cages and fed by the clock. There's no such thing as a midnight snack, or a trip down to the shop with your friends. We don't even have school. there are guards everywhere. And the labs. Just thinking about it makes me shiver. They do tests on us, trying to work out why we're different to take our gifts away from us.
We're over it. Over the cages and uncomfortable mattresses. Over the unsatisfactory food. Over the guards and the needles and the doctors. We're planning a revolt. We want out. But, to do it, we need outside help.
